Artybollocks Photography Competition - Call for Entries
First generate an artist statement, then create a photograph to go with it. How you translate the statement into photography is entirely up to you. You are the artist, you decide. Click the button to generate a statement. If the statement doesn’t get your creative juices flowing, you can click again to get a different one. Keep in mind that this is random statement generator; if you are intrigued by a statement, write it down – once you “click” again, it’s gone!
You will need to submit the statement with your photograph when you enter the competition. If you like the current statement, write it down or copy/paste it somewhere so you can include it with your entry.

The artybollocks generator
Artybollocks is an artist statement generator that first saw the light of day in 2011. It has been relentless in generating artist statements ever since. All at the simple click of a button, with no blood, sweat or tears spilled in the process. Every artist knows that writing an artist statement is a difficult thing to write. They often sound the same and say very little about the actual work. That is why artybollocks was made. To give artists more time to make art and less time writing bollocks nobody understands. The generator here has been specially adapted for the occasion to generate with a particular photographic flavour. You can find the original generator at artybollocks.com.
Read before submitting: How to Submit Entries to Artybollocks
SUBMISSIONS OPEN: Monday, May 6 at 12:00A (A submission button will appear at the bottom of this page at 12AM on May 6.)
SUBMISSIONS CLOSE: Sunday, May 19 at 11:59P
SUBMISSION COST: $2 per entry. No limit on entries per person. (Must be 18 or older to enter.)
DISCLOSURE: In blind judging, jurors from the CoPA Board of Directors, the artybollocks.com creators and Arty Bollocks Ball sponsors will select finalists from all submissions. Entries will be judged on the photographer’s interpretation of the artist statement: originality, humor, irony, irreverence and a general distaste for the pretensions of the art world. Any depictions of hate speech or cruelty to animals will automatically disqualify an entry and make us really mad.
RULES: (We know, soooo un-punk, but the lawyers are making us say it.) Entrants must be 18 years of age or older to enter the competition and must be legal residents of Wisconsin. Any taxes owed on prizes are the sole responsibility of the winner.
DISCLAIMER: Photo entries must be the original work of the photographer submitting it. By submitting the entry form, entrants are agreeing to grant Coalition of Photographic Arts (CoPA) and affiliates the absolute and irrevocable right and permission to use, re-use, publish, and re-publish the photographs in displays related to the competition and Ball and CoPA in general; in printed and electronic publications and in conjunction with any copyrighted matter, in any and all media now or hereafter known for illustration, promotion, art, advertising and trade, news, informational and educational purposes and to copyright the same, under its original name or otherwise. The photographer thereby releases and discharges CoPA and affiliates from any and all claims and demands arising out of or in connection with the use of the photos, including without limitation any and all claims for invasion of privacy.
BEFORE YOU SUBMIT: It is imperative you follow the How to Submit to Arty Bollocks instructions for naming conventions and file specs so that we may properly credit your photo entry to YOU. Blind judging requires that photos be separated from the submission form after upload, so simply filling in the form is NOT ENOUGH. Entries that are not properly titled and otherwise submitted will be automatically disqualified.
