To see in color is a delight for the eye, but to see in black and white is a delight for the soul. ~ Andri Cauldwell
Don Krause, curator and owner of ArtBar, has issued this challenge for the 2018 CoPA/ArtBar summer exhibition: blow him away with your best black and white photography in any genre, subject or language.
Black and white photography evokes narrative like nothing else; no cheap tricks of over saturation, colorful filters or cranked up chroma. What you see is what you get, and it better be good. Black and white can be gritty and edgy, and equally elegant and sensual. Landscapes take on new meaning in the sweeping grandeur of black and white, while nature, still lifes and abstract imagery are all open to new interpretations. No subject is off limits.
Submissions open: Friday, June 1
Submissions close: Wednesday, June 20
Submission fee: $5 for up to five entries (open to CoPA members only)
AWARDS: $100 Don’s Grand prize, CoPA Board prize a one year CoPA membership or one year membership extension.
If framed, images must be framed in clean, plain white or black frames. If matted, mats must be clean white. No exceptions. You may print professionally on other surfaces, such as aluminum, canvas, linens and woods.
Additional details will be emailed and posted to the CoPA website and Facebook page in the near future along with the submission forms.
