The NEW CoPA website is in the beta testing phase, which means it is only a matter of weeks until we put the finishing touches on it and go LIVE. When this happens we’ll blow away the old site and replace it with the high-functioning new site. That means all our member galleries will be gone. Now is the time to rethink, retool and reimagine how we wish to present our work online.
Vaughan Larsen is astute at editing and curating their own work so that it seamlessly and elegantly tells a very precise story of both content and their abilities as a visual artist. For many of us, one of the most difficult tasks is whittling down a body of work; choosing which photographs make the cut and which we should leave out. Mapping the order of photographs is another process that can make or break the presentation of our work. Vaughan will share their approach to creating a polished and engaging online presence.
Larsen received their BFA with an emphasis in Photography from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee in May 2019. Later that same year, they earned first place in the 2019 Getty Images Creative Bursary Award, first prize in the Amsterdam Pride Photo Award, and was named a 2019 Emerging Fellow by the Greater Milwaukee Foundation’s Mary L. Nohl Fellowship. Exhibited throughout Milwaukee, their work has also been shown in Brooklyn, New Orleans, PrattMWP’s campus gallery, and with The Reclaim Kollektiv in Cologne, Germany. Larsen’s work has been written about in publications such as Humble Arts Foundation, Urban Milwaukee, and Photo Emphasis. In 2021, their work was included in the publication Witness, curated by Efrem Zelony-Mindell, which has since been acquired by the MOMA Library of New York.
