Past Meeting ResourcesApril Schmooze Discussion: Photo BloggingApril's discussion was all about blogging. What is it, how do you do it, the tools (such as Blogger) and some do's and don'ts. Of course, rule number one is the commitment to post! The last thing anyone wants to see are long lapses between blog postings. It kind of defeats the purpose of a weblog (the official name). CoPA member, Mel Tritten (CIGARETTESANDPURITY) gave a wonderful overview of blogging and how it fits into photography. UPDATE: Several CoPA members have started or added to their photo blogs. These proposed action plans were prioritized, each with a timeline. Some of the recommendations are already being executed. Based on priority and complexity, some plans may require up to a year or more to accomplish. Some will require more resources, time and volunteers and may take longer. Here is a link to the proposed action plans. They are preliminary, may be revised, and not all have been discussed or approved by the Board. The proposals are grouped into these categories - Education, Communications, Membership/Leadership, Meetings & Schmoozes and Resources & Equipment. At its April meeting, CoPA’s Board approved a monitoring system, or scorecard, to ensure that approved plans are accomplished, and that progress is made. Periodically, CoPAcetic will report on the progress being made. If you have any questions about the planning process, please contact Tom Hubbard or Dan Patrinos, Board members or Committee chairs Dan Patrinos, Chair Strategic Planning Committee (414) 277-8492 patrinos@milwpc.com Tom Hubbard, Member Other committee members are Thom Feroah, Mark McLaughlin, Mark Stall and Sonja Thomsen.
CoPA's Third Portfolio ReviewFor a look at what went on, check out these pics... The Coalition of Photographic Arts held their 3rd semi-annual members' only Portfolio Review at the Joan Steele Center on the Cardinal Stritch campus bright and early Saturday morning, Nov. 17th. 24 members had their printed work reviewed in person-to-panel sessions with well-regarded local curators, professors, and professional photographers. In a separate waiting room, CoPA members participated in a peer review - some even if they didn't have an official slot. It was a great opportunity to see a cross-sample of work. A few hours after the event was over, some CoPA members came back to the gallery to hear from the art photographers Ellen Rutchick and Tim and Kim Abler whose "Milwaukee, Minnesota, Mexico" exhibit was on-display in the room. The Portfolio Reviewers were Greame Reid, Kevin Miyazaki, Nikki Bender, Lisa Hostetler, Bill Appleby, Peggy Marish, Claire Odishoo, Gary Tuma, and Anne Ghory-Goodman.
