Brian Jacobson

Milwaukee Ale House
233 N Water St
Milwaukee, WI

Brian Jacobson is showing selections from an ongoing study/series called Wisconsinites in Detail. Evoking such photographer influences as Gary Winogrand, Henri-Cartier Bresson, William Eggleston, and others, this work is about seeing and watching as a mood, observation of minituae and bodies in motion and rest, and thinking about watching others in terms of social commentary of the Midwest venue.

All locations and events happened on the weekend in the summer of 2007, with the future hope of showing more material taken in the other three seasons in the future. A book showing more complete photo sets will be made available for purchase at Brian's website. The show continues through Sept. 7 in the dining room of the Milwaukee Ale House in Milwaukee's Third Ward.

Mike Starling

Greece in Blue & White
July - August

Mercy Hill Gallery
2625 S. Greeley St.
Milwaukee

Mike says, "I encourage CoPA members to visit this spacious gallery in the Hide House, an old tannery building in Bayview. There's room for a large exhibit, or a joint show by two photographers. Plus very supportive gallery owners."

"A non-denominational community church holds its weekly service in the back room of the gallery (complete with electric rock band), so there is a steady group of people who will see your work. Many other artists and musicians also have studios in the building - most open to the public on Gallery Night to increase your traffic. For more info...
