Call For Entries: Super-"Calatrava"-Listic Exhibition at the Art*Bar

The Quadracci Pavilion, affectionately called the "Calatrava," is probably the most photographed building in the city, and every photographer likely has at least one image of it in their portfolio. The idea behind this show is to compare how different artists/photographers "see" the building. It is an iconic structure, but every photographer has a unique "eye," and this promises to be a fascinating look into all the different kinds of ways artists are able to portray the same, highly recognizable subject.

Wisconsin Visual Art Lifetime Achievement Awards

The 10th annual Wisconsin Visual Art Lifetime Achievement Awards (WVALAA) ceremony will be held at the Museum of Wisconsin Art (MOWA) at 205 Veterans Avenue in West Bend on Sunday, May 19 at 1:30 pm. Founded in 2004 as a collaboration between MOWA, Wisconsin Painters and Sculptors/Artists in All Media (now Wisconsin Visual Artists) and the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters, the WVALAA is essentially the in-state “Hall of Fame” for individuals, groups and organizations who have supported the visual arts with distinction.

Announcing CoPA’s 6th Annual Midwest Juried Exhibition

This juried exhibition is open to all photography artists who reside in Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota or Michigan, who may submit up to four entries with a $35, non-refundable entry fee. There is no fee for active/paid CoPA members; this is considered a membership benefit. Entrants must be a current paid member as of Oct 15, 2012 in order to qualify for the member submission fee waiver. New memberships after Oct 15, will not qualify for the fee waiver.

Exhibition Jurors: Graeme Reid, Annemarie Sawkins

Graeme Reid - Born in Scotland, Graeme Reid graduated from the University of Glasgow and Indiana State University with Master’s degrees in 1990 and 1993 respectively. With nineteen years experience in arts management/curatorial work he is currently Assistant Director at the Museum of Wisconsin Art having previously worked at the John Michael Kohler Arts Center (Sheboygan, WI), the Art Museum of Greater Lafayette (IN) and the Swope Art Museum (Terre Haute, IN). Over the years he has curated over 120 group and solo exhibitions as well as worked on the development and installation of institutional collections. An experienced judge on a local, regional and national level and award winning writer on the arts, he has taught art history and the humanities at ISU and Purdue University and is a regular guest lecturer at various Wisconsin institutions.

Annual CoPA Members' Show Open through Saturday, May 12th

CoPA's Seventh Annual Members' Exhibition is open through May 12th with regular gallery hours at 262 East Menomonee in the Third Ward, across from Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD).The exhibition spans the gamut of photography: natural and urban landscapes, fantasy, travel, digital manipulation, black and white close-ups, psychological portraits, mixed media, and much more.

CoPA's Seventh Annual Members' Exhibition opened with a reception on Gallery Night at 262 East Menomonee in the Third Ward, just across from Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design (MIAD). This year, the Members' Show features 113 regional artists. The exhibition will be on display with regular gallery hours from April 20 to May 12, 2012.

The exhibition spans the gamut of photography: natural and urban landscapes, fantasy, travel, digital manipulation, black and white close-ups, psychological portraits, mixed media, and much more. CoPA’s members include well-established professional photographers, college students and amateurs. Some experiment fearlessly; others are consummate craftsmen, committed to traditional processes. All are united by a passion for fine art photography.
